Shane was born in California but raised to be a proud Arizonan who now lives in New York. He says, of Tucson, “It is a place where growing up poor has no bearing on what you can do. If you want to write a zine you do it, if you want to start a band you do it. There aren’t any big city, big money politics you have to deal with. Tucson really molded me to be appreciative of life, and though most look at it as a dusty shit hole in a Republican state, it has more culture and charm than any place I have been.”
