Natasha Stagg: What are you up to lately?

Alisha Lim: I am currently in Tucson growing out my hair (from the sides being shaved, and prior to that a Chelsea), starting a hardcore band, and working at Brooklyn Pizza Company as a delivery driver (I am the boy from Home Alone, dream come true).

NS: What part of Tucson are you from?

AL: My first home was on 13th Street. But I grew up in the Foothills.

NS: Do you plan on leaving Tucson?

AL: Yes, I plan on moving to LA and elsewhere to pursue filmmaking.

NS: What are some inspirations for your films?

AL: Beautiful losers, wasted youth, teen angst, magick, misanthropy, heartbreak, true love, and the 80’s.

NS: Tell me about the band you’re starting.

AL: Yes. We are starting a hardcore band. Pagan Youth. It’s a name I have been waiting to use for a long time. (And yes, Pagan Youth/Reagan Youth). The band came to life by virtue of my boyfriend and partner in crime, Tyler Woods. He had all these songs already written in his head, and one day proposed that we make it happen. Pagan Youth is Gilbert Flores/drums, Kyle Kennedy/bass, Tyler Woods/guitar, and myself/vocals. We were all kids that grew up in the hardcore/punk scene, so it just kind of made sense. I just want to be John Weiffenbach and do jump kicks.

Tyler and I have also been wanting to start a neofolk project, for a really long time actually. Kind of a Douglas P. or Boyd Rice/Rose McDowell pairing is how I like to think of it.

NS: What are you reading?

AL: I Drink for a Reason by David Cross.

NS: Suggest something to do in Tucson.

AL: Visit the Snake Bridge, duh.

NS: Suggest something to read.

AL: Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller.
